TBR Pile Challenge
Because I am obsessed with reading, I'm doing another challenge! :D

My goal for the year is 100 books, and though I have a ton of books just sitting around my apartment waiting to be read, it's likely they will be thrown over for newer, shinier (easier) books. Which is where the TBR Pile Challenge comes in! (thanks for bringing this awesome thing to my attention, josephinestone)

Basically you pick 12 books that you haven't read yet that have been sitting on your bookshelf for over a year, and you read them within 12 months!

I'm currently finishing up the Heroes of Olympus series before they are due back at the library (1 down, 4 to go!), but then I will pick one of these! Any suggestions about where I should start?

The List
1. Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? by Mindy Kaling (review)
2. 100 Years of Solitude by Gabriel García Márquez
3. Persuasion by Jane Austen (review)
4. Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra
5. Journey to the Center of the Earth by Jules Verne (review)
6. The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver
7. The Gauntlet Thrown by Cheryl Dyson (aka dysonrules)
8. Daughter of Fortune by Isabel Allende
9. Oh the Glory of it All by Sean Wilsey
10. Great Tales and Poems of Edgar Allan Poe by Edgar Allan Poe
11. Mr. Perfect by Lisa Howard (review)
12. The Eye of the World by Robert Jordan

1. Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne
2. Les Misérables by Victor Hugo

(Wow, finding books was a lot harder than I thought it would be! Turns out I don't have very many books lying around that I haven't read!)

I own Mindy Kalings book (obviously.. If you knew how obsessed w her I am) and have "been reading" it for months. It is hilarious and fun, but I also get tired of it every few chapters. I return to it now and again. Though I do think at this point I should just sit down w it and finish it outright :D

I adore her!

I really want to listen to it on audiobook instead of reading it. I did that with Tina Fey's book and I think it's so much better when you can hear their voice.

I had no idea she read it in her own voice for audio book, that sounds awesome.

Oi, I have Persuasion and The Gauntlet Thrown on my tbr pile too. I would love to join you, but I'm kind of wary about both. Do I manage to read the first in English? And Gauntlet Thrown: there's still a book to come. And waiting for sequels is just the worst.

Btw, I have a whole tbr shelf. I could send you some. LOL And those are only the physical copies. Ival (that's my ereader ;p) is a black whole. He absorbs all sorts of ebooks. *cough*

LOL, I think two of these are actually from my virtual Kindle TBR pile because I ran out of physical books!

Yeah, the only reason I've been putting off Gauntlet thrown is because it's long and the final book hasn't come out yet, but I figure, I'd rather be caught up when it comes out then have to read all three at once! :D

So excited! I've been wanting to read them for ages!

I was debating about reading them in their original Spanish (I read Amor en el tiempo de colera in Spanish and loved it) but I already have them in English and it would take me 5x as long. Maybe someday!

If I could get my hands in some english version of them I totally would read them with you. The spanish versions are so beautiful. I might read them with you even in spanish. It's been a few years since I did.

Don Quixote is one of those books that's been staring at me from my bookshelf for years, pleading "Read me, read me!" Seeing it on your TBR list gave me motivation to actually do something about that. So here's to finally reading it in 2015 :)

Love 100 Years of Solitude!

Yes! Read it with me! LOL, my goal is to having reading buddies for as many books as possible. ;)

But I always have so much more fun when I can flail/bitch about/discuss books. :D

I'm reading Heroes of Olympus too! I love the books- although I confess I sometimes compare them to the HP series and then they fall flat. But Nico Di Angelo! Oh hellz yeah!

That's quite a list! I've read Don Quixote cover to cover and highly recommend it (duh). 100 Years of Solitude is in a class of its own, although it wasn't entirely my cup of tea. Still, the classics are the classics.

I plan to start with Edgar Allan Poe in the near future.

Anyway, good luck with it all! This is an awesome challenge :)

I'm all about that Nico! HP will always be number one in my heart, but I will say that something I am really enjoying in these series (just finished book 2 last night) that i didn't really get in HP, is the diversity. I adore that so far, 4/5 of the new main characters are non-white, and that their diversity and heritage and culture is important to the storyline. I just love it.

Excited for Don Quixote, but man is that a long ass book!

Thanks, hon! Hopefully I will be able to read them all!
