HP: Ravenclaw/Books

What I'm Reading

What did you recently finish reading?

The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins
This was a disappointment. So much potential in a prequel, and there were definitely some interesting themes touched upon, but if ever there was a villain who didn't need an origin story, it's President Snow. Uninspired and, frankly, boring.

Fearing the Black Body: The Racial Origins of Fat Phobia by Sabrina Strings
Super dry and academic, and not quite what I was hoping for from this book.

Dark Space by Lisa Henry
Very mixed feelings on this one. Expected to love it because a lot of people on my flist gave it rave reviews and the summary was right up my alley, but there were some aspects of the story that majorly squicked me and that apparently nobody else was bothered by... There are two more books in the series and I am really on the fence about reading them.

MM Holiday Shorts
Read about 15 of these, and I have another... two, I think, on my list! Overall the ones I read I enjoyed, but I stuck with authors I knew I liked.

Notable Fanfic Reads:
-Only Good for Legends Series by [archiveofourown.org profile] leupagus (Star Trek, Spirk)
-A Pain of Our Choosing by [archiveofourown.org profile] lq_traintracks (Harry Potter, Drarry)

What are you currently reading?

Instant Karma by Melissa Meyer
Currently on pause because my hold lapsed at the library.

A Promised Land by Barack Obama
Current audiobook listen.

The Body is Not an Apology: The Power of Radical Self-Love by Sonya Renee Taylor
Current non-fiction read.

Scarlet Sister Mary by Julia Peterkin
Current Pulitzer Prize Winner read. Just picked it up from the library!

What do you think you’ll read next?

A Curious History of Sex by Kate Lister
Next non-fiction read.

Chronicles of Alsea by Fletcher DeLancey
Just got the first ebook in this series from my library and it came highly recommended so I'm looking forward to reading!

Roommate by Sarina Bowen
I really enjoy this MM romance author and she just came out with this book so I'm hoping it's as good as her other works! I must admit, the summary hasn't immediately grabbed me the way her other ones usually do, so we'll see...
