When I got back, I was seriously just bursting with H/D feels, which meant I had to read a lot of fic, obviously! Lots of quality recs this month. :)
[H/D Recs!]Title: Post-war Reconciliations
Author: faithwood and marguerite_26
Word Count: 3,215
Content/Warnings: established relationship, sex toys, bottom!harry, semi-public sex, light bondage
Summary: Harry needs to make a speech about post-war reconciliations. Unfortunately, he’s a bit distracted.
Really fucking hot fic, with Harry wearing a magically charmed plug during a Ministry event. Never gets old! :D
Title: Storm in a Teacup
Rating: Hard R
Word Count: 7,954
Content/Notes: eighth year, bottom!harry, implied switching
Summary: For reasons he'd rather not think about, Draco is obsessed with Potter's hair. This cannot end well.
Really lovely 8th year fic with Harry and Draco using the same hidden alcove for studying and striking up a friendship. There is some great banter in this one, and Draco is so adorably smitten. Also, features Draco being obsesses with Harry's fabulously messy hair, which I can never have enough of.
Title: The Safe House
Word Count: 10,306
Content/Warnings: auror!draco, auror!harry, forced proximity, shared bed, rimming, bottom!harry, implied switching, somnophilia
Summary: Aurors Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy are forced to spend Christmas together in a safe house. Bet you can guess what happens. ;-)
Forced proximity/shared bed is one of my favorite tropes, and I loved the idea of Draco and Harry being trapped in a safe house together. Some gorgeous sexual tension that results in some steamy sex. Good fun. :)
Title: Baby It's You
Pairing: Draco/Harry, Harry/OMC, background Ron/Hermione
Word Count: 23,792
Content/Warnings: infidelity, dub-con, drunk!sex, MPREG, dirty talk, bathroom!sex, switching, bottom!draco, bottom!harry, harrydracompreg 2015
Summary: Harry sometimes wished that his life wasn’t quite so prone to turmoil. Some days it felt like he couldn’t even take a piss without throwing his entire future off-course. Or, you know, have a drunken shag in a public toilet. It’s more the principle of the thing, really.
MPREG isn't a huge trope/kink for me, but I really enjoyed this author's take. I was a little worried about the angst factor with this one, but the author did a great job making the interactions, relationships, and reactions feel believable without getting too bogged down in the angst potential. The sex is super hot, and I loved how open and straight-forward Draco is in this one.
Title: Fast Forward, Two Steps Back
Pairing: Harry/Draco, background Ron/Hermione, Hannah/Neville
Word Count: 36,065
Content/Warnings: professor!harry, time travel, teacher/student relationship, first time, rimming, bottom!harry, dracotops_harry 2011
Summary: Everyone knows that Draco Malfoy died in the Room of Requirement ten years ago. So when he suddenly reappears at Hogwarts ten years later, still seventeen years old, Professor Harry Potter's life gets very complicated.
Really fun and sexy with a cool take on the time travel trope. Loved watching the relationship between Harry and Draco unfold seeing how time travel/age difference impacted their interactions. I also really enjoyed dynamics shift the teacher/student relationship. Fun read!
Title: We Are Young (I'll Carry You Home Tonight)
Pairing(s): Harry/Draco, Draco/Astoria, Harry/Anthony Goldstein, Harry/Ginny, background relationships
Word Count: 68,826
Content/Warnings: friends with benefits, switching, bottom!draco, bottom!Harry, rimming, first person POV, hp_holidays 2011
Summary: Harry and Draco have been falling into bed on and off again since the last election five years ago, much to the amusement--and financial gain--of their circle of friends. But when Harry agrees to work with Draco to put Kingsley Shacklebolt into the Minister's office, they can't work side-by-side again every day and sleep together; that would be courting disaster. Wouldn't it?
Oh goodness, this was brilliant! The wizarding politics here were so freaking cool and well done and really created such a brilliant backdrop for the fic. Draco and Harry's chemistry was beyond fantastic, and the push and pull of their relationship, how their feelings grow without them really acknowledging what that means, oh, it was so good! The sex was fantastic, and I honestly just a LOT of feels throughout the whole thing. Some really brilliant side characters, and a wonderful sense of atmosphere made this fic feel incredibly real. Some heartache along the way, but a brilliant ending makes it all worth it. <3
Title: Unhook the Stars
Pairing(s): Harry/Draco, mention of past Draco/OMC, Draco/Astoria, Harry/OM, Harry/Ginny, background Hermione/Ron, Pansy/Blaise
Rating: NC-17 overall
Word Count: 70,582
Content/Warnings: BDSM, professional dom!draco, sub!harry, switching, bottom!draco, mostly bottom!Harry, auror!harry, bondage, rough sex, D/s, blindfolds, belting, rimming, snowballing, dirty talk, mirror!sex, aftercare, orgasm delay/denial, sex toys, gags, hp_sexstars 2012
Summary: "Love is like a Rubix Cube: there are countless wrong twists and turns, but once you get it right, it's perfect no matter how you look at it." Seventy-thousand words of pornographic discourse between two boys-turned-men that still haven't learned how to communicate like normal people – with words. Guest appearances by Pansy Parkinson, Neville Longbottom, Hermione Granger, Blaise Zabini, Teddy Lupin, Gregory Goyle, the Weird Sisters, ex-wives, several Weasleys, a Boggart, and a Honey Badger.
Oh GOD, this fic was wonderful! Dom!Draco was all kinds of fantastic, and I seriously loved the dynamic between him and Harry. Harry was just a gorgeous and full of fire as ever, and the characterizations for the both of them were really amazing. Some seriously kinky, dirty sex with all kinds of BDSM goodness, if that's your thing. And woven through the filthy sex was a really lovely development of Harry and Draco's relationship. Pleasantly (and surprisingly) not too much angst, and a just all around very satisfying fic.
Title: At Your Service
Pairing: Harry/Draco, background Ron/Hermione, Hannah/Neville past Harry/Ginny
Word Count: 95,792
Content/Notes: eighth year, first time, bottom!draco, implied switching
Summary: Hogwarts students are in danger; Harry is determined to save them all. There's only one thing he knows for certain: Draco Malfoy is somehow involved.
Another one of those fics I read before I started reccing, and that I FINALLY got around to rereading! Great 8th year fic with lots of plot and some wonderfully authentic characterizations. The build between Harry and Draco was nice and slow, and I really enjoyed watching Harry slowly start to realize what his feelings meant and then plow forward in typical bold Gryffindor fashion. I thought the plot was super interesting, and the author did some really cool things I don't think I've seen done before, which made for an exciting ride. Wonderful side characters, some really great interactions between Harry and Draco, and a very satisfying ending made for a pleasant afternoon of reading. :)
Title: Silververse (10 Fics)
Pairing(s): Harry/Draco, Draco/OMC, Harry/Draco/OMC (9th fic only), past Severus/Lucius, background Hermione/OMC, Sirius/Remus, Severus/Bill
Rating: NC-17 overall
Word Count: ~121,448
Content/Warnings: AU: Hogwarts, AU: Snape Lives, spy!draco, past character death, switching, bottom!draco bottom!Harry, seer!draco, auror!harry, bodyguard!harry, light bondage, threesome, m/m/m, some epistolary!fic
Summary: A love story concerning possessed furniture, black silk pyjamas, courtroom drama, premonitions of doom, assassination attempts, Death Eater yoga, absinthe, bare feet and a sensible werewolf. Beware: coarse language, brief drug use, some sexual content, and consideration of issues of sexual consent.
Really great fic that goes AU pretty early in the books, with Draco turning spy for the Ministry of Magic. This was definitely a popular trope from back in the day, and I really loved this author's take on it. The seer aspect added some interesting perspective, and I thought it was handled and incorporated perfectly--it never felt like it overwhelmed the plot. I enjoyed the structure of the fic here, where the plot chapters were inter-cut with letters, Auror reports, and other non-traditional pieces of writing that clearly were relevant and moved the story forward. It was fun and well executed. And, of course, the characterizations were great. I love that Draco doesn't loose any of his spark, and that his bitterness over how things went down during the war is very obvious. It made for a redeemed but still recognizable Draco, and how Harry reacts and interacts with Draco is really wonderful. Great slow build of Harry's feelings, and while the main fic doesn't have the sex, the sequels more than make up for it.
Title: A Thousand Beautiful Things Series (5 Fics)
Pairing(s): Harry/Draco, Draco/OMCs, background Ron/OFC, Hermione/Dean, Seamus/OFC
Rating: Hard R
Word Count: ~168,892
Content/Warnings: AU: Hogwarts, AU: Snape Lives, spy!draco, switching, bottom!draco bottom!Harry, model!draco, cursed!harry
Summary: Draco Malfoy struggles with changed fortunes, shifted alliances, an ugly war, and an unusual spell, with the help of a concerned professor, an insightful house-elf, and an unexpected Gryffindor friend.
Gorgeous fic that goes AU after OotP. This has so many great things in it: spy!draco, cursed!harry, model!draco, sacrifice, hot sex, and a wonderful slow burn. The characterizations here are fantastic. One of my favorite Snape's and Dean is another stand-out character. Draco, of course, totally steal the show, as he should. I love that we get inside of his mind while he's still in school and see why he makes the choices he makes. He feels wonderfully real and in-character, and while I loved watching his relationship with Harry develop, that almost feels secondary to Draco's overall journey throughout the fic. And the sequel is a wonderful continuation in this universe. We get to learn more about Draco's past experiences during the war and see him and Harry work through their relationship and overcome the difficulties that two people with such fucked up pasts are bound to have. Very gripping series. :D
