Anyways, the movies made me a total Thorin/Bilbo shipper (aka Thilbo/Bagginshield- These ship names are adorable), and I have read a few really great fics in the past few weeks while I have been killing time waiting for HP fests to start back up! :)
Title: Velvet For My Frame (Part 3 in the Your Whole Body Series)
Author: freakylemurcat | freakylemurcat
Word Count: 12,299
Notes: piercing!kink, bottom!bilbo, the hobbit kink meme
Summary: The Quest has been a success, and the dwarves are returning to the Lonely Mountain. Bilbo, on the other hand, has acquired quite a few more jewellery related problems than he had realised would become an issue.
I've already recced the first two fics in this series, but a third one came out this month and it is just as fantastic and smoking hot as the first two! The piercings are super sexy, and now Bilbo gets to join the club. ;)
Title: Through Miles of Clouded Hell
Pairing: Bilbo/Thorin, implied Bifur/Bofur
Word Count: 13,773
Notes: bottom!bilbo, rimming, implied incest
Summary: Thorin tries to woo Bilbo... but fails miserably at it. In fact, he only manages to scare the living shit out of the hobbit.
Interesting concept; I love fics that go into Dwarf and Hobbit customs. Great opportunities for misunderstandings and the sex at the end was really freaking hot.
Author: ferretbaby | ferretbaby
Pairing: Bilbo/Thorin, Nori/Bofur, implied Dwalin/Ori
Word Count: 15,552
Notes: omega!verse, alpha/beta/omega dynamics, heat cycles, alpha!thorin, omega!bilbo, bottom!bilbo, knotting, implied MPREG
Summary: The alphas go into rut after battle as a result of all that adrenaline. Bilbo sits back with the betas and laughs, or tries to.
I love a good omega!verse fic and this one was great! Love the way the a/b/o dynamics were integrated with Hobbits and Dwarves, and the pacing was very believable.
Title: (Not Quite) Prince Charming
Author: manic_intent | manic_intent
Pairing: Bilbo/Thorin, past Bilbo/OMC
Word Count: 68,581
Notes: AU: Modern, bottom!thorin, talk of switching, dirty talk
Summary: The problem, Bilbo would later tell Gandalf in aggrieved irritation, was not so much the unannounced visitors, oh no, but the fact that due to the lateness of the hour and sheer merciless fate, it came to be that at the respectable age of forty, Bilbo was being introduced to a real, live king while wearing striped pyjamas and fluffy slippers.
God this was so freaking awesome and so well written! I loved the concept of Erebor being rich in technology rather than gold, and the idea of SMAUG being a group of terrorists who took over the government. Thorin and Bilbo were both characterized beautifully and Dís was an unexpectedly lovely addition.
Title: Marriage in the Manner of Dwarves Series (8 Fics)
Author: diemarysues | diemarysues
Rating: NC-17 overall
Word Count: 74,081
Notes: switching, first time, dirty talk
Summary: Hobbits didn’t have such things as courting rituals – they were uncomplicated folk. They announced their affections with flowers or a cooked meal, a shared pipe or simply a kiss – and then there were meetings with both families and a date set for the wedding. Dwarves, as he kept discovering, were a completely different kettle of fish. // Courtship and wedding over, it's time for prizes to be claimed. To be more blunt: their wedding night. // It's innuendo, cuddles, and schmoop. That's it. // “When we wake, and it’s your turn to have me, then I am going to show you how cruel I can be.” // Thorin's POV of the hair-braiding chapter. Somehow it morphed into wanking. // An exhausted King collapses into bed and is taken care of by gentle Hobbit hands.// “Not to say that you aren’t charming under the right circumstances. I can still remember when we danced together, with your hair bound back and your dancing boots.” Thorin felt Bilbo shiver lightly against his back. “I almost could not believe that I could be so lucky.”// Thorin put his mouth close to Bilbo’s ear. “My plans involve pressing you down onto the green grass, with your heels on my shoulders and my fingers in your –”
This was a truly fantastic series. It is well-written and engaging, with great characterizations and appearances by the entire company (plus Dís)! I loved all of the different courting rituals and the relationship between Bilbo and Thorin was perfectly paced and believably developed. No sex in the main fic, but there are several smutty sequels that more than make up for it! :)
