November Writing Round-Up
It's December! This is crazy to me.

GOALS

November Word Count Goal: 25,025 / 21,000

2018 Total Word Count Goal: 168,572 / 200,000

I hit my monthly goal! Woohoo! Hell, not only did I hit it, but I exceeded it, which is kind of awesome. November had a ton going on, but somehow I still managed to have both the time and motivation to write, which is always wonderful. :D

NOVEMBER ROUND-UP

  • November [insanejournal.com profile] daily_deviant: no words on this one, but I posted it this month and you can read it here.

  • January [insanejournal.com profile] daily_deviant: drafted and did initial edits. As predicted, this one was super short and I was able to knock it out quickly, which is always nice!

  • Drarry Gift!Fic: sent to beta and went through basic edits! All that's really left here is a final read-through and polish.

  • Femslash Gift!Fic: continued writing! I started the month with 5 scenes already written and was able to write 5.5 more of the scenes I had outlined, for a total of 10.5/12 drafted.

  • [tumblr.com profile] hpfemslash-minifest: drafted, edited, & posted. You can read it here. Another unplanned ficlet, but November's trope is Unusual Careers, and I was inspired to bust something out based on a head-canon I've had for years. :)

  • Drarry Gift!Fic #2: finished draft & initial round of edits & sent to beta. I wasn't planning to prioritize this one this month, and yet...Honestly, the idea just wouldn't leave me alone until I wrote it. :D

  • Drarry PWP: got this one back from my alpha & betas and went through their edits!

  • February [insanejournal.com profile] daily_deviant: picked pairing/themes & outlined! This hadn't even been on my radar yet, as I wasn't sure when themes would be up, but the second they were posted a had an idea, so I jotted out a quick outline.

  • [community profile] hp_goldenage: claimed a prompt and finished drafting! I hadn't planned on starting this one in November, beyond potentially a bit of outlining, but got some inspiration so I went with it.

DECEMBER

December Word Count Goal: 31,500

With one bizarre exception back in 2015, December is usually one of my least prolific months. In fact, for 3 of the past 4 years, it was my lowest month of the entire year. (Fun fact, in 2015, it was my 2nd most prolific month of that year...strange). This is not a surprise, as RL tends to be full of quality time with friends and family, and what fandom time I do have has often gone towards modding [community profile] hd_erised. I cannot imagine I will hit my WC goal, both because I don't imagine my other obligations will be lighter this year, and because I don't even really know that I have that many words worth of projects currently on deck. But that is the amount of words I need to hit my over-all goal of 200,000 for the year, so I figured, why not try, yeah?

December Fics to Focus On
  • Drarry Gift!Fic: this really just needs a final read-through & polish, so I'll plan on getting to that sometime this month!

  • Femslash Gift!Fic: my primary writing goal this month is to finish this fic. I really just need to finish up the sex scene an write the epilogue so that should be very doable.

  • [insanejournal.com profile] daily_deviant Kinky Kristmas Comment Meme: DD is hosting a comment kink meme in December this year, and I definitely plan to take part! My hope is to get through at least one fill, but hopefully somewhere between 2-4. Filling prompts is open to EVERYONE, so if you're looking to write something quick & dirty, you should definitely drop by!

  • January [insanejournal.com profile] daily_deviant: Need to find a beta for this one and get it ready for posting next month!

  • February [insanejournal.com profile] daily_deviant: this is outlined, and I'd like to knock out the first draft early so it's ready to post come February!

  • [community profile] hp_goldenage: need to send this to my alpha this monh, and then find a beta for this one. Might try to do that in December, though I potentially might wait until January to find somebody. We shall see!

Upcoming Fics / Stuff on the back-burner
  • [tumblr.com profile] hpdarkarts My Bloody Valentine fest: I have a vague idea that I'd been toying with for this fest. I don't generally write horror!fic, but I've found myself really drawn to darker themes lately. I like the concept of my idea, but I need to sit down and see if I can actually turn it into a fic with a vague semblance of plot.

  • March & beyond [insanejournal.com profile] daily_deviant: themes have so far only been posted through February, but I'm hoping to continue to keep up with my monthly posting, so they're on my radar.

  • Jeddy Pride!Fic: This is another one of those fics I've been wanting to write since last year. I'd originally planned for this to be a gift!fic, but my feels weren't in the right place. Then I thought I might write it for hp_nextgen_fest but it's looking to be on the long side and I didn't have the time/inspiration to write something that long for the fest. I've got it mostly outlined, and am vaguely thinking about making this my focus for the first part of 2019, but we shall see.

  • Taking Chances Sequel: This is waaay on the back-burner. Like, have-not-committed-to-making-this-a-reality back-burner. BUT, I do have a document where I've been tossing in ideas of potential plot points/scenes for a sequel, and I have a kind of vague idea of how it would go. Nowhere near a cohesive plot, but I'm thinking I'll take a look at this doc in the new year and start seriously thinking about working up an outline. I'm pretty excited about some of the ideas I have, but working on the original fic was so draining, that I'm not quite up for tackling another long Drarry fic at the moment.

  • Pile O' Plot Bunnies: I currently have a list of over 20 concrete plot bunny ideas. Some of things I'll try and incorporate into fests or daily deviant themes. Some are sequels or codas to existing fics of mine. As you can tell from my list above, I do try and comb through this periodically and pull for inspiration.
