Snowflake Challenge Day 7 & 8: Self-Recs and Non-Self-Recs

Challenge #7: Promote/Rec/Sing the Praises* of Yourself!

I was actually tagged on tumblr recently to "Choose your 5 favorite works you created in the past year and link them below to reflect on the amazing things you brought into the world in 2019" so I thought I'd sort of combine this exercise with that one! <3

Palace of Eternity (Draco/Harry, 28k, Explicit) - I wrote this one for last year's [personal profile] hdtropes and it is probably the work I'm the most proud of from 2019. I really wanted to approach the Vampire Fic trope in a unique way, and I'm super happy with how it came out.

Come Alive (James Sirius/Teddy, 30k, Explicit) - This is a fic I wrote for last year's [community profile] hp_nextgen_fest but I've been wanting to write this fic for a couple of years now. I got to explore some themes I've been wanting to write, and I really enjoyed getting to write something longer with this pairing again.

Find this Feeling (Alicia/Ginny, 27k, Explicit) - Suuuuper rare, longer, femslash pairing, so I wasn't expecting this to be massively popular, but I really enjoyed the process of writing this one and getting a chance to write something meatier with Ginny.

What I Do To You (Draco/Harry, 9k, Explicit) - This was a half-birthday gift for the lovely [personal profile] writcraft and is based on the Buffy/Spike dynamic in season 6 of Buffy, which is something I've wanted to explore with Drarry for years. I finally decided to actually write it for Writ, and it was one of those fics that turned out pretty much exactly the way I wanted it to!

Too Cold Outside (For Angels to Fly) (Drarry, 63k, Explicit) - This was my first ever advent!fic that I wrote for last year's [community profile] slythindor100 and was a total spur-of-the-moment decision. I ended up writing a Veela!fic and attempting case!fic, which were two "tropes" I've been wanting to try my hand at. The fic also ended up being my 2nd longest ever, and I wrote the entire thing in about 6 weeks which is insane!

Challenge #8: Rec at least three fanworks that you didn’t create.

MY FAVORITE! I actually have a number of HP recs that I've been meaning to post and just keep forgetting about... SO, excellent opportunity to make things right! We've got stuff in here from [community profile] hp_nextgen_fest, [community profile] hpdrizzle, [community profile] sirius_blk

Title: Red in Tooth and Claw
Author: [personal profile] shiftylinguini
Pairing: James Sirius Potter/Teddy Lupin
Rating: NC-17
Word Count: ~5,200
Content/Warnings: Recreational drug use, creature!fic, werepire!Teddy, Friends with Benefits, Biting, mild blood play, [community profile] hp_nextgen_fest 2019
Summary: The first time Teddy asks if he can, James shrugs and says, "Sure, go for it", and Teddy has to rethink the whole thing.
Ooo, this fic was so much fun! I loved the twist on the creature!fic trope here, and the dynamic and banter between James and Teddy was perfection!

Title: Terraphasma Exolvo
Author: [archiveofourown.org profile] larvawaffle
Pairings: Teddy/Sirius, Teddy/James (endgame), past Sirius/Remus, background Harry/Ginny
Rating: NC-17
Word Count: ~30,400
Content/Warnings: Mild Internalized Biphobia, Ghosts, Ghost Sirius Black, Dirty Talk, Masturbation, Voyeurism/Exhibitionism, Ghost Sex, Mentions of Recreational Drug Use, Blood, Injury, Mild Gore, Rimming, Bottom Teddy, Minor Character Death, [community profile] hp_nextgen_fest 2019
Summary: When Harry asks his directionless, lovesick godson to clean up an old property to sell, he’d assumed the most Teddy would encounter would be Doxies and Bogarts. But when Teddy arrives at Number Twelve Grimmauld Place, he discovers something neither of them could have anticipated.
This was such a fascinating fic! The writing was wonderful, as were the characterizations and the little nods to canon and the HP magical universe. I was totally engrossed, and felt so much for Teddy here, and could completely understand how he could fall for Sirius (even while hopelessly pining for James!) Just a note, this fic is endgame James Sirius/Teddy, but all the smut is Sirius/Teddy.

Title: You Cut Through All the Noise
Author: [archiveofourown.org profile] queenofthedagger
Pairing(s): James/Sirius, past Sirius/Remus
Rating: NC-17
Word Count: 18,200
Content/Warnings: underage, bed sharing, [community profile] sirius_blk 2019
Summary: During the summer after his 5th year, Sirius runs away from home. When he made his way to the Potters, he didn't think about the fact that he would have to share a bed with James, a rather difficult thing due to his unrequited crush. But, is it really?
Really wonderful fic with Sirius coming to stay with the Potters and the secret mutual pining feels finally coming to a head!

Title: And One to Play
Author: [personal profile] tackytiger
Pairing(s): Harry Potter/Draco
Rating: NC-17
Word Count: ~21,777
Content/Warnings: Auror partners, Auror!Harry, Auror!Draco, switching, bottom!harry, bottom!draco, desk!sex, semi-public!sex, rimming, office!sex, [community profile] hpdrizzle 2019
Summary: Draco Malfoy and Harry Potter are the best team in the Auror Department, even when they're driving Gawain Robards up the wall.
When Malfoy is injured on a mission, it causes Harry's magic to go haywire. Meanwhile, a mysterious criminal is draining people's magical cores and turning them into Squibs.
Can Harry stop blowing Malfoy away in time to solve the case? And will Malfoy ever stop trying to get the last word?
Really enjoyable read with an interesting case and magical theory, partnered with a really wonderful relationship between Harry and Draco! I loved their friendship and partnership here, and the whole thing was fantastically engaging.

Title: The Wand Slipped
Author: [personal profile] sdk
Pairing(s): Harry/Draco, background Ron/Hermione, Ginny/Zacharias, past Harry/Ginny
Rating: NC-17
Word Count: 35,029
Content/Warnings: past infidelity, case!fic, rimming, bottom!harry, breathplay, [community profile] hpdrizzle 2019
Summary: After a messy, public divorce and a disgraceful exit from the Auror Department, Harry is trying to rebuild his life as a private investigator. But when his ex-wife ends up in St. Mungo's, and Harry's tasked with finding her attacker, he'll have to confront the mistakes of his past, and rely on an old enemy, in order to get closure and move on, and incidentally, solve the case.
Oh my goodness, this fic was so SO good! It pulled me in right from the start and did not let up! The emotions and relationships in this were so fantastic and real in all their messy, complicated glory, and I love how the characters were able to be a little be fucked-up and not always make the best choices without being vilified. The sex here was unbelievably hot, and the ending was wonderfully hopeful. HIGHLY recommend!

Title: Light up the Night
Author: [archiveofourown.org profile] saras_girl
Pairing(s): Harry Potter/Draco, background pairings
Rating: NC-17
Word Count: ~98,000
Content/Warnings: EWE, unusual jobs, holiday!fic, switching, bottom!draco, bottom!harry
Summary: This year, despite his better judgement, Harry’s love life is going off with a bang.
Classic feel-good Sara's Girl advent!fic, with Harry having a super interesting and unusual job, an unexpected pet, wonderful winter holiday details, and a lovely friends to lovers build between Draco and Harry.
