What I'm Reading

QUESTION: I try and read 10% of a non-fiction book every day, and if you've been reading these round-ups at all, you know those books cover a broad range of topics! I'm starting to reach the end of my TBR list when it comes to books, so I figured I'd ask if y'all have any recs! Love stuff on social justice, but also into quirky/niche subjects, motivational, etc!

What did you recently finish reading?

Stamped from the Beginning by Ibram X. Kendi
Fucking brilliant and thorough. HIGHLY recommend.

The Road Home by L.A. Witt
This author is very variable. She's quite prolific, which I think is what leads to her having the occasional brilliant novel interspersed with a lot of fine ones. This one was fine.

A Very Punchable Face by Colin Jost
I enjoyed this one, but it's rare I don't enjoy a comedic memoir read by the author. Light, humorous, and a generally enjoyable thing to listen to while cleaning and cooking and taking a walk.

Notable Fanfic Reads:
-Puddlemere’s New Man by Currently Anon (Harry Potter, Oliver/Teddy)
-Any Semblance of Touch by [archiveofourown.org profile] saltnhalo (Supernatural, Destiel)
(Wasn't in much of a fanfic mood last week for some reason. Mostly just felt like reading a bunch of original published fiction)

What are you currently reading?

Steppenwolf by Hermann Hesse
Current audiobook read! This is one of the books on my HS classics list, and I'm trying to read one of them a month!

The Awakening Land Trilogy by Conrad Richter
Finished with the 2nd book in the trilogy this past week so now it's on to book 3, the entire reason I had to read the first two, as the 3rd one is the Pulitzer Prize Winner.

Trials of Fear Series by Nicky James
Each one of these books focuses on a unique phobia, and I've been slowly working my way through them! Overall I've been enjoying and I'm nearly finished

What do you think you’ll read next?

Pieces of You (Missing Pieces, #1) by N.R. Walker
This author can be a bit hit or miss for me (with more hits than misses), and I'm honestly really not keen on memory loss as a trope, so not sure how this will go... But the trilogy is now finished and the books are slowly starting to be removed from KU, so I want to read this one before I can't get it for free!

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by J.K. Rowling
Next HP book club meeting is this weekend, so I'll be reading this one before that!

Better Than People by Roan Parrish
One of my few auto-buy MM romance authors just came out with this book today and I'm absolutely digging in tonight! It sounds up my alley and I've yet to be disappointed by this author so fingers crossed this one works for me!

Fanfic:
-Liar by [archiveofourown.org profile] jad (Harry Potter, Drarry)
-A Change of Heart by [archiveofourown.org profile] Ladyoftarth (ASOIAF, Brienne/Jaime)
-Of Magic & Men Series by [archiveofourown.org profile] venomedveins (Spartacus, Nagron) This entry was originally posted here on Dreamwidth. Please comment there using OpenID
