Rectober #5: Sherlock Recs
I've been reading ALL about "The Johnlock Conspiracy" theory (TJLC) on tumblr and WOW are people thorough! For those of you who aren't familiar, TJLC is basically the idea that the writers of BBC Sherlock have written the entire show with the idea that eventually John and Sherlock will become a canon romantic pairing. And people have come up with a TON of analysis supporting this argument. Not sure if I necessarily believe it, but it's so interesting reading about everybody's ideas. If your interested deducingbbcsherlock on tumblr has written a ton of metas on the subject, and this one is a great place to start for an overview of why TJLCers believe Johnlock will become canon.

Either way, reading about it put me in a Sherlock mood, so I had to scamper off and find some good fic to read! And I found enough excellent ones for the fandom to warrant it's very own rectober post! :D

Title: Dreaming in Lucidity
Author: keelywolfe | favicon keelywolfe
Pairing: Sherlock/John
Rating: NC-17
Word Count: 2,004
Notes: established relationship, first time, bottom!john, implied switching
Summary: John woke up slowly, hardly aware that he wasn't dreaming.
This was undeniably hot and wonderfully sweet.

Title: Spaces Between
Author: aubkae | favicon aubkae
Pairing: Sherlock/John
Rating: Hard R
Word Count: 7,644
Summary: John watches Sherlock wander through the flat staring at everything like it's all new, touching random objects as if they can tell him something he doesn't already know. Their eyes meet. They look away.
Wonderful post-Reichenbach fic (where Mary does not exist) that deals with John and Sherlock getting used to one another again. And ~feelings~. Very believable and beautifully written.

Title: A Study In Reflexology
Author: keelywolfe | favicon keelywolfe
Pairing: Sherlock/John
Rating: NC-17
Word Count: 10,809
Notes: first time, rimming, table!sex, bottom!john, light foot!kink
Summary: For all the dangerous situations Sherlock tended to run into with nary a consideration to the risks, it always astonished John how often he managed to escape without a scratch or a bruise.
Wonderful fic with great characterizations and some of the hottest sex ever!

Title: Let's Make a Bed Out in the Rain
Author: theimprobable1 | favicon theimprobable1
Pairing: Sherlock/John, John/Mary, Mary/OMC, past Sherlock/OMC
Rating: Hard R
Word Count: 17,664

Really wonderful fic that gave me all the achey feels in the best way!

Title: Winter's Delights

Rating: NC-17
Word Count: 21,173
Notes: bottom!sherlock, implied switching, holiday!fic
Summary: Sherlock takes John home for Christmas to meet the extended Holmes family.
Fun fic with a really wonderful and unique take on the Holmes family.

Title: Floriography
Author: lbmisscharlie | favicon lbmisscharlie
Pairing: Sherlock/John, John/Mary
Rating: NC-17
Word Count: 21,811
Notes: AU: Fusion, imagine me & you fusion, infidelity, het sex, florist!sherlock
Summary: Florist!AU - Sherlock is a florist and he's doing the flowers at the wedding of John Watson and Mary Morstan. John's about to marry his best friend in the world. He's happy, in love, and content with Mary. So why can't he get tall, enigmatic man who did the flowers at his wedding out of his mind?
This fic manages to be incredibly interesting and believable and totally sells Sherlock as a florist! Infidelity can be an iffy subject for me to read, but I really liked how it was all handled here. Nobody was vilified and it felt very real. And the connection between Sherlock and John was so powerful and beautiful. Loved it!

Title: Two Coffees One Black One with Sugar Please Series (4 Fics)
Author: favicon Linpatootie
Pairing: Sherlock/John
Rating: NC-17 overall
Word Count: 25,419
Content/Warnings: first time, bottom!sherlock
Summary: A somewhat pointless experiment on Sherlock's behalf leads to John having to re-evaluate pretty much his entire life.
Really wonderful and believable series. Funny and real and sweet and sexy in turns with brilliant characterizations and a lovely evolution of their relationship.

Title: Tennis Series (4 Fics)
Author: jupiter_ash | favicon Jupiter_Ash
Pairing: Sherlock/John, background Jim/Molly, past John/Mary, past Sherlock/Jim, past Sherlock/OMC
Rating: NC-17
Word Count: 215,916 total
Content/Warnings: AU: Sports, AU: Fusion, Wimbledon fusion, switching, bottom!john, mostly bottom!sherlock, dirty talk, rimming
Summary: John and Sherlock are professional tennis players and it’s Wimbledon. One is a broken almost was at the end of his career, the other an arrogant rising star tipped for greatness. It should have been a straightforward tournament. It really should have been. How were they to know that a chance encounter would change everything?
Really wonderful and believable AU that does and excellent job of fusing the Sherlock and tennis worlds together. The characterizations are wonderful and I really liked how the characters and even dialogue from the show were incorporated. I thought the sports commentary during the matches was a fun way to show the progression of the games, though it did get a bit technical at times (especially for somebody who knows little about tennis). Great connection between Sherlock and John and lots of super hot sex!

I read a lot of TJLC meta one time, mostly thinking 'what the... really? You really think this is the endgame?' I went to bed feeling bemused... and woke up semi-convinced. I don't know. Something clicked. I examine everything Mofftiss say now for evidence of TJLC and there is usually something there! I think it could actually happen. \o/

Right? That's pretty much what happened to me. Part of me is a bit skeptical, because queerbaiting is a thing and all, but the more I read, the more I think, maybe...

I seriously hope so, the fandom would lose their minds.
